Council Highlights from Wednesday, February 8, 2023.
A regular meeting of Council was held in the RM of Moose Range No. 486 Council Chambers on 40 Railway Avenue at Carrot River, Saskatchewan on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.
Attendance:
Reeve: Wilfred H. Wolowski Councillors: Kenneth (Alan) Stewart, Brian L. Digness, Jacob Buhler, Rayan E. Drury and Roy J. Forbes.
Administrator: Beverly M. Doerksen.
Absent: Lyle S. Quiring
Reeve, Wilfred H. Wolowski, called the meeting to order at 8:00 AM.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on Wednesday, January 8, 2023 were adopted as circulated.
The financial statement for the month of January 2023 was approved as presented.
Henry Wiens attended the meeting at 8:30 AM to review shop progress and answer any concerns of council.
MLA Fred Bradshaw attended council at 9:00am to present the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee medal to Reeve Wilfred Wolowski. The medal was created to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Accession to the Throne. Nominees had to be a resident of Saskatchewan that have made a contribution to the province. This process was followed in each province of Canada. Mr. Bradshaw addressed the following concerns of council:
• Doctor and Nurse Practitioner and funding provided to the Carrot River Medical Clinic.
• Provincial Disaster Assistance Program’s length of time to issue payments.
Newly appointed Fire Chief Jorden Sinclair attended council at 10:00am to meet council and to give an overview of his plans in the near future as his role of Fire Chief as well as an update on the Rescue Vehicle Repairs.
The administrator is authorized to attend the spring workshop in Kelvington, SK on March 30, 2023 and all meals, mileage and registration be reimbursed.
Wilfred Wolowski and Jake Buhler be appointed official voting delegates to the 2023 SARM Convention to be held in Saskatoon, March 14 to 16, 2023, and further that, Brian Digness, Alan Stewart. Lyle Quiring and Beverly M. Doerksen be authorized to attend as visiting delegates.
Wilfred Wolowski be appointed as the voting delegate for the municipal hail annual meeting on March 14, 2023.
An advertisement for a seasonal back hoe / grader operator position with applications to be received by February 22, 2023 with interviews to be on February 28th and the hiring to be decided at the regular meeting of council on March 9, 2023.
The accounts as verified and initialed by the Finance Committee and the Reeve for cheque nos . 8410 to 8435 totaling $ 478,862.27 annexed hereto and forming part of these minutes be approved for payment, and further that Direct Deposits for January 2023 Payroll and Council Indemnity in the amount of $ 24,390.04 be approved as presented and further that the January 2023 MasterCard transactions in the amount of $6,626.24 be approved as presented.
All correspondence as read is to be filed.
The reports of the Administrator, Council and Committees were acknowledged as presented.
