The Beaver Control Program (BCP) focuses on the humane removal of nuisance beavers and utilizes easy-to-install man-made flow devices. These devices provide a cost-effective and sustainable solution to mitigate flooding problems caused by nuisance beaver populations.
Adult nuisance beavers and the structures they build can lead to various issues across all agricultural sectors. They can cause flooding of properties and roads, which becomes a public safety concern. The dams constructed by beavers can adversely affect agriculture by flooding crop and pasture lands, resulting in negative financial impacts. Additionally, beavers can block culverts, obstructing waterways and causing detrimental effects on ecologically sensitive areas, infrastructure, and the economy.

To trap legally, individuals must submit a copy of their valid trapper's license to the office before trapping begins. The Council has established the first Wednesday of each month from 8 AM to 12 PM as Beaver Tail Collection Day at the RM shop. During this time, a shop employee will be available to count the beaver tails and sign the trapper verification form. This form must then be taken to the RM office to receive compensation. Each tail is compensated at a rate of $30.00, which will be issued at the following council meeting. Please visit the office to collect your trapper verification forms.
